PROGRAM FOR SELECTION OF OUTSTANDING SUGAR PRACTITIONER (OSP)
The program intends to give recognition to the deserving Sugar Practitioner working in the Sugar Industry in the field of Engineering or Technology such Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical/Chemist, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation or other related field of practice that directly contribute to the advancement of the raw/refined sugar, and/or other co-products/by-products of sugar cane processing such as bioethanol, co-generated power, etc. in the following areas:
- Energy Efficiency
- Innovation
- Product Quality Improvement
- Safety Improvement
FIELD OF PRACTICE/DISCIPLINE:
The following are the fields of practice qualifying for the Outstanding Sugar Practitioner (OSP):
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Electronics and Communications Engineering
- Instrumentation Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Sugar Technologist
- Chemistry/Chemist
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Nominee should be a member of the Philippine Sugar Technologists Association, Inc. (Philsutech).
- He/She should be a Filipino citizen and a regular employee of a sugar cane-/sugar-based company in the Philippines.
- If an Engineer, he/she should be a holder of a valid PRC ID in his/her engineering field, or a holder of a Bachelors Degree for other disciplines.
- He/She should have a working experience in the sugar industry of at least five (5) years.
- He/She should be between 30 to 60 years old.
- The work/project where the Nominee is a part of should have had a significant contribution to the improvement in the production of raw/refined sugar and/or other co-products/by-products of sugar cane processing such as bioethanol, co-generated power, etc., by way of the areas mentioned above.
- The significant work should be documented, working and installed/applied/used/implemented with measurable data/parameters/input/output that can be verified and has contributed to significant improvement in the production of raw/refined sugar and/or other co-products/by-products of sugar cane processing such as bioethanol, co-generated power, etc., for at least one (1) crop year.
- The significant work documentation should be submitted together with the fully accomplished nomination form, and endorsed by the direct superior of the nominee, and the factory engineering manager/factory manager.
CRITERIA OF SELECTION:
- The Nominee shall submit all the required documents pertaining to his/her significant work to the Philsutech Secretariat for evaluation not later than 31 May of the current year. This is to give ample time for visitation and validation.
- The VP & Director and the Director for Factory Engineering or their designated representative together with the representative of the Secretariat will visit the factory/installation of the Nominee verification and validation.
- The work/project of the Nominee shall be judged according to the following criteria/requirements with the corresponding points for each:
